Seattle's Montlake Bridge Acquires a First-Class Operating System

One of Seattle's landmarks, which spans across the Lake Washington Ship canal, is the Montlake Bridge. Built in 1925, this movable bascule bridge sees a great deal of traffic both over and under the deck.

Since 1925, the bridge has operated using four motors maneuvering the deck up and down on its trunnion supports. The control tower at the South side of the bridge houses the console used to direct the motors and operate the deck.
